With 16 classes forming great fields we were sure to see some great racing.

Mr Pup (Andrew Yuill) put on a great display of driving throughout the weekend in the Sportsman over 40’s division, being on Pole for the final, Yuill got a perfect start and headed about building his lead, only to collide with a back marker late in the race putting Mr Pup back in the pack and then spinning out of frustration, Pup showed great speed though the entire weekend.

In Rookies, JSKC was represented by Oscar Piastri in his FA Rocky. Piastri only 4 races off his P Plates and never turning a lap of the Rochester track, showed brilliant speed throughout the weekend and coming home in 7th in the final

Sportsman Light showcased a pair of FA Karts with Jesse Davis being very quick throughout the heats and only just missing out on 3rd overall with a brilliant last lap move and JSKC newcomer Jason Bargwanna, showing that he can not only just steer a V8 Supercar bringing his FA home in 2nd position.

Jai Sparey found some luck in the cadets final, after winning his 1st blue plate up in QLD Sparey showed great pace all weekend atRochester to take out the final.

Lachlan Citrine and Leighton Clague showed burst of speed in the Clubman Heavy category throughout the weekend but could only manage 8th and 11th in the final respectively

There were a Trio of FA Karts in Sportsman Heavy, with Aron Lawrence leading the points for most of the weekend, Scott Cole put his best foot forward in the final and not being able to catch the leader, but taking home a 2nd place trophy with Lawrence 3rd. Also showing great speed all weekend was the FA of Daniel Velloff and the Monaco of Ross Miller, both just struggling to get through the traffic during the heat racing.

In Clubman Light, Justin Francis was showing the way for most of the weekend aboard his FA TS30, until a less then perfect start in the Pre Final which resulted in Francis’s FA to be tangled with another kart, after making a brilliant start in the final, Francis suffered damage once again and could only manage 3rd Position.

James would like to thank all the people who attended Round 2 of the GPS atRochesterand congratulate all the competitors who got up on the podium.

Gold Coast driver Jaxon Evans used Randle’s spare FA chassis in today’s action (after he damaged his RK chassis in a rollover incident yesterday) to charge his way from the rear to sixth place.

This win for Randle now puts him in a commanding lead in the Rotax Rankings

James Sera attended the 2012 MG Tyres KartSport New Zealand National Sprint Championships in Hamilton over the Easter weekend; James was competing in the 100cc Yamaha Light category, which is similar to the Australian version of Clubman Light.

We arrived at the track on Wednesday morning with Remo Luciani, met the Local Monaco dealer over in NZ Brad Tyrell whom I can’t thank enough for giving me a Monaco GP7 28C chassis and engines. Brad showed me my kart and I fitted a seat to the kart as I like to do this kinda stuff myself. Remo and I then walked the track; Wow how awesome is this place was the 1st thing that sprung to mind. The track was big and Very undulating; we couldn’t wait to get out there!!!!

After our track walk, there was a little more work to do to the karts and then wait for our sessions to start, the 1st session on the track was a big learning curve, I struggled for pace but really enjoyed driving the 900m Hamilton Circuit.

The Wednesdays practise went well, I was within a few tenths of the pace and coming to grips with the engine and Monaco Chassis, even though the engine is a Yamaha 100cc S engine like we have here, rules in New Zealand are very different so the engines take a bit of getting use to.

Testing continued on Thursday, and once again we were greeted with Perfect weather which apparently in New Zealand is a rarity. I tried my 2 engines and kept testing the Monaco GP7 chassis and kept making progress on Thursday afternoon.

Friday was qualifying day, my sessions were in the afternoon, so we had our warm up Friday afternoon, followed by qualifying, unfortunately qualifying didn’t go quite to plan and I could only manage 8th position on the grid. I had a day to reflect on my qualifying run as my heat races and Finals weren’t to run until Sunday.

With weather conditions still perfect for Sundays racing, I started the 1st heat out of Grid 8, I managed to work my way to 5th, the 2nd heat I went from Grid 8 to 6th which put me on Grid 5 for the Pre Final of 12 laps.

After posting the fastest time in heat 2 and starting out of Grid 5 for the Pre Final I was fairly confident of a front row start for the final, until the spark plug fowled on the roll up laps forcing me to lean the carburettor jets so much that I lost my jetting position, the engine had nothing, no power at all and I just fell back through the field to 7th position.

I had a great weekend racing in New Zealandand and learned a lot over there too. The racing was great; the competition was brilliant in the 32 kart 100cc Yamaha Light field which is regarded as the most competitive class. I would love to make my way back across the Tasman as I now have unfinished business there!

I would like to thank Brad Tyrell from Pacific Kartsport for all his help throughout the weekend and also for supplying the Monaco GP7 Chassis and Engines. Remo Luciani for also making the trip possible, Bob and Aarron Cunningham and also Kartsport NewZealandfor hosting a Fantastic race meeting.

Held on the 31/3 to 1/4 All Stars Round 1 kicked off at Oakleigh Go Kart Racing Club.

In Clubman Light, James Sera showed his local knowledge of the Oakleigh kart track in his FA TS30 clubman chassis, Sera was 2nd from last in the 1st heat, took out the 2nd heat, Pre Final and Final in convincing fashion. Justin Francis bought his FA TS30 home in 2nd to make it an FA 1 – 2

In Leopard Light James bought his FA Victory chassis home for a Solid 2nd position in the final not being able to quite match the speed of eventual winner Jake Spencer

Sportsman Light was another FA Kart 1 – 2 with Michael Carless taking the win but closely followed by Josh King. The 2 had a great battle at the start of the final with Carless taking an early lead, only to be chased down by king, King then took the lead, only to loose it a few laps later back to Carless who held on to take the win

Aron Lawrence was back in action at Oakleigh in his FA Victory chassis. Aron come home in a Brilliant 3rd position bagging some valuable points from the weekend.

Other stand outs for the weekend were Dylan O’Keeffe having his 1st race off P Plates in the Junior National Heavy category, O’Keeffe lead all but 2 laps of the 1st heat race with some very hard chargers behind him, Dylan done the JSKC Race Team proud coming home 5th in the final after starting from the back

FA Fernando Alonso kart showed sheer domination at the 2012 Victorian Open Championships held at theBeckleypark racewayGeelong

In Clubman Super Heavy it was Scott Simpson who secured pole in Fridays qualifying, Scott went on to dominate the meeting taking a clean sweep of all the heat races, pre final and final, home in 2nd was FA Kart driver Ben McKinlay who came home very strong in an exciting finish for the minor placing’s

In the Leopard Light category it was FA Kart driver Michael Carless who stopped the clocks quickest in Fridays qualifying, Carless set blistering pace in his FA Victory chassis. Lacking experience Michael had a disappointing opening heat, but redeemed him self in heat two to take the win from fellow FA driver James Sera. Sera took the win in the pre final, and also took out Sunday afternoons final never being headed.

Thomas Randle chipped away in the Junior Clubman category all weekend, after not qualifying where he would have liked, Randle showed plenty of speed during the heat races to start the Final from grid 3 in his FA TS30. After making a great start Thomas found himself tangled up with another driver putting him back to 6th position on Lap 10, Randle showing plenty of maturity kept a level head and slowly clawed his way back to the front, taking the lead with 3 laps to go and never being headed.

James Sera Topped the time clocks in Fridays Qualifying showing the speed of his FA TS30 putting himself on Pole position by 2 tenths in the tough Clubman Light field, James took out the opening heat, but could only manage 2nd in the 2nd heat and pre final. Starting off grid 2 for Sundays final, Sera took and early lead, by mid race Sera found himself dicing with young up star Joseph Mawson, 1 ½ laps from home disaster struck for Sera with his chain falling off therefore not registering a result.

FA Kart won 3 out of the 14 classes at the 2012 Victorian Open Sprint Kart Championships, being the 2nd most winning chassis of the meeting. James Sera would like to congratulate all the FA drivers that won, and also thank all the FA Drivers for supporting FA Kart
